Java Question???

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a Java problem. It might be that I need Java for media to work, but I was wondering if there was an alt tag I could use just for a visitor to download the content if desired.

Also I have built quite a few sites that used very little java script & they played video, the only problem there was I had to ftp everything onto the server and have it on a directory within my domain. If I had to go that rout I'd be three months uploading and doing nothing but uploading.

If anyone knows a tag or element that I could add to a page that would bypass Java I'd appreciate the advice.

Much thanx in advance,,,

WARNING: You might get only a 5 minute preview of this. If that happens you can download Veoh's web player for Windows [here]. It aint a bad application but if settings are wrong it will stay running forever and slow your internet down considerably. To remedy this just open up the prog and in settings set it up NOT to start when it detects an internet connection and NOT to close to system tray, but exit instead.

The "other" bonus to having that Veoh web player is that you can download this in original quality. It's 449MB but a great vid to burn on a DVD in higher quality. The flv version might be about 120MB or so but the quality is greatly reduced, especially when watching full screen on yer TV.

Shakira "Don't Bother"

This is my one and possibly "only" Shakira post. One because I don't really find her talented and second reason is I "still" don't find her talented, but this vid has some decent production value to it and that's the only reason I posted it.

PS: Shakira please don't be offended by my opinion, I'm just a Dumb-Ass anyway. I still do find you attractive and here's my phone number if you ever want to take me out dancin (308) 56 (censored). "Oops, I won't let me post it here. Just email me yer # then, if you wanna."

This is how to make a pretty cool stash box out of a Pepsi bottle.

I like the idea because I "used to smoke weed, no...", I like it because it's a great idea and you can protect your belongings from anyone you know that don't like warm Pepsi.

The Coming Collapse of the Middle Class

This video is fascinating. Elizabeth Warren does a fantastic job explaining how the American economy has shifted over the last thirty or years or so. She also goes a little further into the situation to explain social aspects as in added family pressures and the fallout from these changes.

The picture she paints is a bleak one, still it is an important topic and it contains information that all Americans need to know because it will effect us all!

"Distinguished law scholar Elizabeth Warren teaches contract law, bankruptcy, and commercial law at Harvard Law School. She is an outspoken critic of America's credit economy, which she has linked to the continuing rise in bankruptcy among the middle-class. This is frightening data people. America, sans middle-class, will look nothing like the America we know.

French revolution anyone? I say we head over to Washington and throw the rats out. Then, to NY to reclaim the $7T of our money the Fed has loaned out without anyone's permission.

Our society is shaped by the economic system into a steep pyramid, with a few excessively privileged and powerful people at the top and a huge vertical drop to the bottom where people lead lives of deprivation and desperation. This shape is in contrast to the expectation after World War II, that America would become a country with a large and prosperous middle class and no extreme contrasts between rich and poor. This extreme inequality destroys community and threatens our society.

Obamas stimulus plan together with the second half of the TARP will deliver a shot in the arm to our economy that will be both brief and shallow, sending us careening on our way to hyperinflation..The stimulus package the U.S. Congress is completing would raise the governments commitment to solving the financial crisis to $9.7 trillion, enough to pay off more than 90 percent of the nations home mortgages.

You make an interesting point about the inflation moving the jobs overseas. To exacerbate this vicious cycle we now to keep inflating the currency to keep imports coming in.

Rustyshackleford08 (1 week ago)
thats right, and if we could have a limited currency system that was under control we couldn't do these wars without taxing people for it like WW2, it was the secret spending on vietnam that really kicked this whole thing off and forced us all off the gold standard (bretton woods). Now we made such a mess I don't know how we can get out of this cycle without a depression. Depression are horrible but necessary to get rid of the bad investments and business men. We really need to start over.

Winamp post

I argue and argue and argue but often it seems that with some people (my son) I get nowhere. Many people use Windows Media Player and that is not only a power hog but it rats you out by reporting everything you watch or listen to to MickySoft and I hate RATS! So still I say Winamp is the best out there, except for watching vids.

I just installed a new DSP/Effect plugin for my Winamp (version 5.541 Free Edition), it's called "GFX 3-D Sound Enhancer" and it expands your stereo effects, boosts the bass and enhances the all out sound quality in stereo. I'm not using my surround 5.1 card on this box because I have instead just the cheap-assed onboard stereo output wired into my 1970 Kenwood reciever. I like the surround but it's a trade-off for hard-real sound quality and I like to shake the windows some and wake up my crackhead neighbors when they finally try to get to bed. Point of all of that is that it might not work well on 5 or 6 channel surround, but in stereo it's a bonus.

Winamp can be downloaded for free from this site. I'll try to paste the info on the plugin below but if I screw it up again like I always do then you can get it here anyway.

One more note: I like Winamp and always have but very soon I might not anymore because it looks like they sold out to AOL and it never took AOL very long to ruin anything they ever touched. Still the AOL free versions such as my favorite (v.2.71) are still available at OldVersion.com.

How to Understand a Trillion-Dollar Deficit

U.S. government spending deficit: $1 trillion

President-elect Barack Obama said Tuesday the deficit appears on track to hit $1 trillion soon. Speaking to reporters after meeting with top economic aides, Mr. Obama said: "Potentially we've got trillion-dollar deficits for years to come, even with the economic recovery that we are working on."
— Associated Press, Jan. 6

Actually, the deficit is on track to hit $1.2 trillion this year, but what's $200 billion among friends?

Seriously, what is it? To the average person, a number that big probably doesn't mean much. At some point long before the hundred-billion-dollar mark, large numbers simply become figures on the page, well beyond human scale and intuitive understanding. And yet as discussion about the economy and the impressive numbers that come along with it continue to dominate the news, it may be more important than ever to try to understand. Is a $700 billion financial-industry bailout a lot? Is a $775 billion economic-stimulus package enough? (See the worst business deals of 2008.)

Unfortunately, our puny human brains aren't particularly up to the task. Go back thousands of years and think about the simpler times of human existence. "We had a few friends; we had to be scared of a few animals. A trillion didn't come up very often," says Temple University mathematician John Allen Paulos, whose book Innumeracy addresses the topic. "There is a sense that when numbers are too big or too small, the brain just shuts off," says Colin Camerer, a professor of behavioral economics at the California Institute of Technology. "People either don't think about it at all or there is fear, an exaggerated reaction."

The genius of our numbering system is that we can signify massive quantities in short spaces. One billion takes no longer to write than one million does, points out Andrew Dilnot, an economist at Oxford University and author of The Numbers Game.

But that similarity trips us up when it comes time to imagine how those figures translate to the real world, where three more zeros make all the difference. "My favorite way to think of it is in terms of seconds," says David Schwartz, a children's book author whose How Much Is a Million? tries to wrap young minds around the concept. "One million seconds comes out to be about 11½ days. A billion seconds is 32 years. And a trillion seconds is 32,000 years. I like to say that I have a pretty good idea what I'll be doing a million seconds from now, no idea what I'll be doing a billion seconds from now, and an excellent idea of what I'll be doing a trillion seconds from now."

A common strategy for beginning to understand big numbers is to devise visual representations. One time, sitting at a baseball game in Philadelphia, Paulos started counting seats along the first-base line. Multiplying the number of seats in a row by the number of rows, Paulos came up with a section of the stadium that he figured contained about 10,000 seats — an image he can now think back to whenever a person starts talking about tens of thousands of a particular thing. When numbers get too large, though, that method breaks down. A stack of one trillion $1 bills would reach more than a quarter of the way to the moon — replacing one incomprehensible thought with another doesn't do much good.

We next move on to more formal manipulations. When trying to comprehend a trillion-dollar deficit, you might calculate how much money that represents per person in the U.S. One trillion dollars divided by 300 million Americans comes out to $3,333. Then you search for a useful comparison. A convenient — though perhaps unsettling — comparison is to the amount of credit-card debt carried by the average person in this country. That figure is $3,245. "So a good way of thinking about government debt financing is that it's similar to what the average person is doing," says Camerer.

In The Numbers Game, Dilnot and his co-author, journalist Michael Blastland, suggest dividing government spending by the number of citizens and the number of weeks in a year. A $700 billion bailout thereby translates into $45 per week for each American man, woman and child. Going one step further, it comes out to $6 a day. Are you willing to pay $6 a day to have a functioning financial system?

Just be careful once you start dividing and dividing again. It's often easy to come up with big denominators that make sense, though ultimately too much dividing reduces numbers to another sort of uselessness. Six dollars a day is also 25 cents an hour, or less than half a penny a minute. Would you be willing to pay less than half a penny a minute?

In a society where people routinely don't stop to pick up a penny off the ground, the better question might be: Is there anything you wouldn't be willing to pay half a penny for?

It's something to think about.

See pictures of the recession of 1958.

Comments below, none of em are mine, they are copied from what I believe is a post made by the band Husky Rescue themselves. Still I like the music...

In this sexy video directed by Finnish filmmaker Miikka Lommi, a beautiful woman finds it hard to keep her eyes on the road as she pleasures herself and picks up speed driving on the dark and empty highway. The plot thickens when she stops suddenly in the middle of the road, only to find another woman dancing seductively in front of her car. Of course, all good things must come to an end and the sun eventually rises and washes aways this sensual nighttime fantasy.

Husky Rescue's ambient music is so cinematic that you imagine a dreamy Hollywood montage just by listening. This video of a man saving a beautiful woman in a space suit from a speeding car in a parking garage is so chilling, I almost cried, even though I have no idea what's going on. The band elusively answered our questions, like 'How exactly does a hot astronaut end up in a parking garage?', at this years ACL fest. We'll post the video commentary soon on Roxwel.

Ednaswap Band

I was lucky enough to have met Anne on a few occasions. I think the first was in October 1998 or so. Ednaswap was playing a show at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island and I stayed and talked with her a little after the show. We exchanged email addresses and kept in touch for a few years. Those were my AOL days and eventually I quit using that sh***y service (I was kicked off for life for mail bombing idiots, booting and punting people offline, LOL-AOL), anyway they took with the account all of my email addresses and hers was one I lost. Before that though she would mail me and tell me when she'd be in or around the Boston area and I did make it to a few more of her shows before loosing her contact information.

When "Little miss Natalie" <--- that was what Anne called the idiot, did a cover of (or stole) Torn I talked with Anne about it. She said that Little Miss Natalie was not the first band to rip her off for that song and that while she starves living out of a van on the road it is completly legal for any idiot to take her music and use it in any way they want. I tell ya, she looked pissed just talking about it. Anyway she's a very beautiful and fiery little lady and I was (still am) very grateful for meeting her.

Funny thing about life is your parents feed you in ways you'll never understand until it's all in the past. One thing my mother did for me was take me to her shows when I was a young boy. She was a professional backup singer for many top Country & Western stars and I think I met, sat and ate with and talked with most of the top ones prior to 1972. What that gave me was a confidence around them that has lasted since then so that even now I can meet a performer and I know how to act and treat them with respect (when I want to anyway, LOL), It does make things easier on them and on me when I do meet someone & that's a nice gift.

The song "Torn" by the band that wrote and recorded it before it was taken from them. Real musicians manually playing musical instruments on a song they actually wrote. From "Wacko Magneto" 1997 * Anne Preven - Vocals * Rusty Anderson - Guitar * Scott Cutler - Guitar * Paul Bushnell - Bass * Carla Azar - Drums

Ednaswap was a band from Los Angeles, United States. They existed between 1993 and 1998. Frontwoman Anne Preven came up with the band's name after she dreamed she was in a band of the same name that was so bad they were booed off-stage.

Dagda & honesty

Gonna be a weird post so play the song and try to read the post. Song might calm you, post is sure to irk you.

Download it [here], it's called "Celtic Trance" by Dogma.

Honesty?

What is it? Is it a form of being? A will of state? An exercise of liveraunce ? Is it something used to represent a scale of sort to measure ones self by?

I think it is none of those. I think honesty is a ration or a compromise. I think that true honesty is unattainable and therefor cannot exist, so it would be a trust issue instead.

Trust is a root or it becomes from a root because everything starts somewhere. So I think trust starts somewhere. It cannot start in myself because I can't even trust half of what influences me and it cannot start in you because you influence me also and I already said I can't trust half of you. Still it needs a beginning.

I will say that I believe that trust can start with my creator (or my God), I figure that's an okay place to start since He started all of this to begin with.

So where does honesty fit in?

It fits right there. If I admit I know next to crap about anything and I only trust half the crap I do know then I autta stop putting all my faith in my realities and look for something more firm to direct me.

Should/Could/If I would/If I could then I would notice that life does not evolve around me but still it goes on.

Now my real point?

Lieing, stealing are both rip-offs from reality. I don't care where you get your reality from but I bet every time you whipe your ass you know it's there.

You gonna eat a mud and call it food? You shouldn't but then again why do people lie about what is and call it something else? Why do they steal as adults? I know kids steal but that's testing reality but why do some of you never grow up?

I hate lies and I hate punks that steal because those assholes think they create reality and they don't! And they shouldn't!

What is a lie?

A lie is a fracture in reality, it can effect many peoples lives, it can cause damage and suffering but worst of all it is a compromise against truth.

Take that from a guy that steals content on line, but when you do don't ever say I lied about it!

Purty boys & stuck up wimmin

This post is fer all you lil' purty boys an all you "you aint gettin none of my fine stuff Mista" ladies out there.

First lemme start out with you think I'm a fat old man. You think I'm a ugly fat old man too but yer wrong. I done me some readin and I can prove yer just a bunch of wimpy little, good fer nothin, wanna-bee dorks that "just happen to be" in fashon these days. But all across the board in in the path of history you little wimpy pups were nothin but saddle-boys and fig leaf pickers.

All of the great men were fat slobs like me and most had long messed up hair like me. None of em cept maybe Alexander Gram Bell looked like half pint, no account momma's boys like you pussies, and Alexander Gram Bell was a cheese eatin liein scoundrel like most of you, so he don't count.

Lookee here an see dumb-ass!

I aint fat an ugly, yer wimpy and fragile. I'm "stately" in appearance yer just a fad waiting to end. The "only" reason my wife messes around with you guys and won't come near me is obvious. It's because "SHE CAN KICK YER WIMPY ASSES", but not mine ---> If my wife could knock me around like she does you pussies she'd still be with me..

And as for you "I aint givin it up for you Funk" wimmin.

Yer too skinny anyway and I hate yer dumb hair-do's.

You belong with those wimps I mentioned above because you deserve eachother.

Throughout history a womans body was full and bodacious, most of you are nothing but sexy asses, beautiful breasts, fantastic smiles with beautiful smiles and nice asses an great boobs an skin & bones, oh yea and very sexy eyes, but lemme show you what a real woman of beauty has looked like throughout the ages so that maybe you'll cut out the shit an stop thinkin yer so special an give it up to me for once...

http://www.laurietobyedison.com/discuss/images/1920s_bathers.jpg <--- please note the healthy complexion and the polite yet "not too" seductive hair-do.

Note the beautiful form and slightly well fed appearance of these fine wimmins? http://www.visionaustralia.org.au/images/about_us/History_Picture16b.jpg <-- look at those firm legs. I bet those wimmin could even help out in the yard a little.

Well I'm almost done with this post and I hope you've all learned a few things from this today. Like, "The only reason wimmin mess around with wimpy-assed pretty boys instead off me is cause they can kick their asses" and only reason all you fine sexy wimmin won't give me none is because yer bein brainwarshed by trends and media bull-shit!

You wimmin can still change yer minds tho and you men can have my wife...

Bombs, explosions, secondary explosions, explosive devices....how many more times do we need to hear these words being said by 9/11 witnesses before we start asking questions about what really happened on that awful day?

This video shows that many actual 9/11 witnesses heard and saw explosions going off inside the towers, long before they actually fell. These witnesses include police, firemen and mainstream media reporters.

And what is even more shocking is the fact that all of this has been ignored by the mainstream media.

We really need to wake up to the facts and ask questions. If we don't, what does that say about us?

Patsy Cline at WSM studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Photographed by Les Leverett.

Patsy Cline (b. Virginia Patterson Hensley September 8, 1932 – March 5, 1963) was an American country music singer who enjoyed pop music crossover success during the era of the Nashville Sound in the early 1960s. Since her death at age 30 in a 1963 plane crash at the height of her career, she has been considered one of the most influential, successful, revered, and acclaimed female vocalists of the 20th century[citation needed]. The story of her life and career has been the subject of numerous books, movies, documentaries, articles and stage plays.

Cline was best known for her rich tone and emotionally expressive bold contralto voice [1], which, along with her role as a mover and shaker in the country music industry, has been cited and praised as an inspiration by many vocalists of various music genres[citation needed].

Posthumously, millions of her albums have been sold over the past 45 years and she has been given numerous awards, which has given her an iconic status similar to that of music legends Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Only ten years after her death, she became the first female solo artist inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2001, she was voted by artists and members of the Country Music industry as #1 on CMT's television special of the 40 Greatest Women of Country Music of all time, and in 1999 she was voted #11 on VH1's special The 100 Greatest Women in Rock and Roll of all time by members and artists of the rock industry. According to her 1973 Country Music Hall of Fame plaque, "Her heritage of timeless recordings is testimony to her artistic capacity." Among those hits are "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall to Pieces", "She's Got You", "Crazy", and "Sweet Dreams"

All of the above was snagged by Wiki's site on this page [here].

I could even become one of them but I'd rather not today. For now I'll just use a source that I can trust rather than the tard-bits of info I gather around from the other morons.

I got this from the "Ultimate" online music art magazine located at IdeaFixa's Rock book page. Their main site is [Located here] and it's all in flash. That sometimes can be good, sometimes bad too when yer tryin' to save links from it.

Below I posted the prog I used to capture images from the page along with a short description of the abilities of the program.

Irfanview has got to be hands down the best & fastest image viewer out there. It also does much much more than even the top line ones that you need to pay for and it's 100% FREE.

Some of the things it will do are as follows:
*It will reformat images in batches. This means that when you get yer digital picture disk back from Walmart and it contains insanely huge files that are impossible to email unless you mail em out one at a time, then it will reformat the images & re size them without effecting the originals to make them easier to share.
*It can build you a webpage in under a minute, which can be uploaded to your site or placed on a CD image disk. Just rename the html file it made for you and place it with the folder that Irfanview made to go with it onto the CD image and add an autorun.exe to it. When you send someone the CD to look at it will open in the form of an offline webpage and it will show thumbnails of all of the pictures you put on the disk. As they click on each it will open up to be viewed full screen. You can also add background music to the html if you wish. I "used to" make birthday CD's for friends and play a happy birthday loop or midi, they all seemed to love them.
*It can do full screen captures. This is handy for making your own buttons for your email or websites.
(I could go on and on forever but you can just try it out for yourself and you have nothing to loose but an under 2 minute download and 30 second install)

Below are the links for download. I HIGHLY recommend you install the plugins after the prog because they will allow you to include most animations like Flash, SWF & FLV, also most mpeg, avi and mpeg formats. Also MP3 (I think)
