Saul Griffith: Climate Change Recalculated

This is another discussion brought to you by Ted.com.

Ted.com is a fantastic site. They offer for free creative content on many topics of interest. I cannot describe to you the value of their content because I myself find myself watching and re-watching presentations over and over again. I do that because often the information becomes overwhelming and I can only take it in in smaller portions.

I hope you visit their site often and watch what interests you now, I'm sure you will find your interests increasing and your desire will be for more.

Here is their site "http://www.ted.com/", next is a quote from their "about" page. After that is Saul Griffith's presentation...

"TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year's TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize."

Lesson #1,

Lesson #2,

Lesson #3,

The value of education for for the individual.

This is another fantastic Ted.com post. This man "Sir Ken Robinson" explains the value of education for for the individual as opposed to education for the masses.

The educational system has become nothing but a tool to teach similarity and consistancy with proven failures and goals of value only for the few who would benefit off of that structure, not the children being educated.

The focus of this discussion is on individualism and the need to allow children to use all of their talents in the education process so that they can express themselves in a manner more suited to the talents that they have been given naturally.

The concept of "one size fits all" has failed too many times in the past and needs to become more respective to the differences in individuals so that all the options for a better society can be explored. Before there is no chance left to find improvement at all.

Visual stimulation with music.

Not really a music vid, more like a production. It's lip sync but interesting.

How to boil water. Post for the blondes...

Go next door and borrow yerself a clean cookin pan and a potholder.

Warsh the pan in fresh running clear water and then fill the pan half full. This is same as half empty. Remove all objects from the stove area, this would include paper, magazines, make-up and beauty supplies like hair color, peroxide and flammable fingernail polish. Turn the flame or metal curly-Q lookin ring on to high by identifying the correct adjustment control knob that is usually located at the rear of the stove on a panel that rises above the surface of the stove. RL, means "rear left burner" RF means right front, LF means "Left front" and LR means "Left rear", If that confuses you there are usually little dots placed next to the control knob that will identify the corresponding burner for you.

Yer half way there Hon so don't give up yet.

Next you have to stand there and wait. Pay attention though because a cup of water usually boils in about a minute & a half, that's about the same amount of time it takes to watch 3 commercials when you are watching As The World Turns or Sesame Street on TV Hon.

When you see the cute little bubbles form in rapid trails coming out from the same areas then the water is boiling, use the potholder to remove the pan from the stove and wait a few moments for the bubbles to stop tryin to spit hot water at you.

Once you get to that point BARB... I mean "Whoever you are" You can make hot chocolate, tea or a nice cup of cheap instant coffee. Or you can just dump it down the drain and try doing it again.

Boiling water is fun and interesting, next week we can try making ice cubes. OK?

Rib Eye Steak made easy...

"Steak Grill Masters show you the "tips and tricks" to help you easily serve up the "best steak anywhere", the Rib Eye steak. What makes the Rib Eye #1 for many? The Rib Eye steak, or ribeye, also known as the Delmonico or Scotch Fillet (Australia), is a beef steak from the small end of the rib roast. When the Rib Eye section of the beef is cut into steaks, it is one of the most popular, tender and juiciest steaks available. This is because the meat from the rib section is tender and fattier or "marbled" more than most other parts of the steer. This extra fat makes Rib Eye steaks and roasts especially tender and flavorful. The Rib Eye steak is usually served bone-in, particularly at high quality steakhouses -the extra moisture and fat alongside the bone enhances the flavor. So get yourself some 1 to 11/2 lb and 11/2"-2" thick Rib Eye steaks --and then go "fire up" that BBQ grill of yours -it's time for some real STEAK On The Barbecue."

No path for the angry
no field to run in,
no shield of might.
Slightness is only currancy,
shame and death remote.
no stand,no standing on the stand,
no blessings and no comfort.
Only waves of Falmouth or Onset or of brine.
less the redemption, less the shine or light.
Furthermore the endlessness of drowning...

death beneath waves of trial.

Wants be needs and wish be plan a man would ask for more.
Loss precedes another race, a race been run once more.
Not for me I think these things,
I'd think more just the same,
but in this hour I feel these things and I feel them once again!
In a time of moments and disaster,
in a shard or slice of time.
Was a moment going faster,
was a moment undefined.

In a realm of reason unforeseen,
was a fragment lost in life.
an excuse or barter of reasoning,
it was the end of something real.

Truth or dare with consequence
pay and pay again.
In a fraction or a scent of need
decisions made impend.

Lost is what it's going to be,
the life the loss you gain.
Forever nothing eventually,
her desire has been impressed.

Not long now for the refined you'll see,
might be a day or week or more.
The pan it lay beneath the beef,
between the flames and then it's scoured.

Lessons to be learned for the dead it seems.
Want for need and shame for gain.
Proposal, propisal, proportionality
some in ruse, some in denial.

Nothing short of gain it seems,
in no way short of game.
On one line read variances,
on other read the lies.

Now it's time to ferment thee..
to cast a line out to the tide.
Break the chains bounding thee,
and slip away into myself.

Marilyn Monroe

Aiight, she's got a fake name. So What!

I just watched the J.F.K. assassination vid and it only makes me think of this woman. Seems she lost her life for being part of his.

Sorry Norma Jeane, God bless you Hon.

"Marilyn Monroe, (1 June 1926 – 5 August 1962), born Norma Jeane Mortenson but baptized Norma Jeane Baker, was an American actress, singer, model and sex symbol.

After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946. Her early roles were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) were well received. She was praised for her comedic ability in such films as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How to Marry a Millionaire and The Seven Year Itch, and became one of Hollywood's most popular and glamorous performers.

The typecasting of Monroe's "dumb blonde" persona limited her career prospects, so she broadened her range. She studied at the Actors Studio and formed Marilyn Monroe Productions. Her dramatic performance in William Inge's Bus Stop was hailed by critics, and she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance in Some Like it Hot."
