Get Windows XP (SP3) Free???

I donno, I have Windows 7 and hate it. I put it and the hard drive it's on in a damn box but I'd like to try Service Pack 3 if I can get it.

This I got from my email and it actually came to there from this page here.

I'd only try this on a new drive with a new operating system because I hope my days of reformatting and rebuilding my computer every week are finally over and gimmicks were usually the cause of my problems.

Post is as follows...

Get Window XP (SP3) Free with Window 7 Virtual Machine
(That title came with this link embedded into it ---> Read More:)

Rafael Rivera and Paul Thurrott reveal a new Windows 7 application compatibility feature called Windows XP Mode. Yes, it's that "secret new feature" you've been hearing about ...

Over a month ago, we were briefed about a secret Microsoft technology that we were told would be announced alongside the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) and would ship in final form simultaneously with the final version of Windows 7. This technology, dubbed Windows XP Mode (XPM, formerly Virtual Windows XP or Virtual XP, VXP), dramatically changes the compatibility story for Windows 7 and, we believe, has serious implications for Windows development going forward. Here's what's happening.

XPM is built on the next generation Microsoft Virtual PC 7 product line, which requires processor-based virtualization support (Intel and AMD) to be present and enabled on the underlying PC, much like Hyper-V, Microsoft's server-side virtualization platform. However, XPM is not Hyper-V for the client. It is instead a host-based virtualization solution like Virtual PC; the hardware assistance requirement suggests this will be the logical conclusion of this product line from a technological standpoint. That is, we fully expect future client versions of Windows to include a Hyper-V-based hypervisor.

That was the post. They have plenty more on that page to read through too. Here is that link again [LINK]

Yahoo Group "mypsptubes" sucks, for the following reasons...

The following is based on an ongiong interaction between the art community and a yahoo group called "MyPSPTubes", they gave the following email address mypsptubes.violations@yahoo.com I suppose for sticky-tape or copy-cut & post complaints for "Vi-O-Lations" of the "Fair Use" provisions of the Copywrite Act.

I don't know if you know of this yet but a very old form (actually a few of them combined) of art has taken on a new trend. What we used to call montage, collage, scrap-booking or many other forms of art re-representation including the old classic decoupage has taken on a newer form. It is in essence the cutting out from pages portions of another artists work and altering it to be re-represented in combination with other forms of art or even just modifying it to present it in a new fashion that better suits your own personal tastes.

While we all know that stealing is wrong we also know that sharing is not. tubers (people who collect tid-bits of graphic material to reassemble and offer a new presentation of the designs) by rule do not do any of this for any form of trade, they earn no money from it. It is only a form of self expression and nothing more. Also it is legal to do this under the "Fair Use" rule.

Some people influenced by selfish greed, jealousy or countless other insecurities have taken it upon themselves to police this group of people and their art form. Funny thing though is it is seldom the artist that complains because to most artists it is a compliment ti have your work so deeply looked at, appreciated and presented to others as a symbol of it's quality and admirable qualities.

Ot6her groups are springing up all over the place. These groups believe they can take advantage of this art form (Full Advantage) and use it under policing tactics as a viable source of revenue. To do this they must first stop the free trade flow of this newer art form because as everyone used to know. You can't sell water in the rain.

The following is an email sent to a friend from one of those people looking to harass and scare other people away from sharing picture tubes for free and break up groups similar to their own group to place their group above all others and take control of the flow of this form of art.

I have decided to leave the group. I am sorry Brenda
I truly enjoy the shares that come through but I have again been reported. Thanks for having me and I hope you can determine who is ruining your group. If you have a group that will at least contact someone about a questionable share I would gladly join that group. I am going to miss everyone's awesome shares.
Have a great holiday weekend my friends

Now here's My Frikkin Comment...
"That's some moron from My PSP Tubes pissin up a tree Christine. Almost every tub is made from art already out there under the "fair use" provision of the Copywrite Act. I don't understand why, don't care, don't want to know why but this person reporting people seems to have a desire to corner the market on tubes. This of course would mean that this scum-bag wants to intimidate others from sharing so that he or she can violate the Fair Use Act and sell, market or have exclusive trade value to these picture tubes (*.tub and similar).

Who-ever, what-ever this delusion-ed person is has little or no meaning to me and push come to shove this idiot just identified himself or herself within this complaint " Email: mypsptubes.violations@yahoo.com" and again in the following....

I don't know if this asshole at My PSP tubes has even a clue as to how large the circle of people that share in tubes, how well they both know and know of each other or how quickly "My PSP Tubes" members and those attached to them will become outcasts across the whole WebRing consisting of tube collectors and tube users.

Business for this person is will become noted with shame and disgrace in no time (LOL, look at what the band Metallica did to Napster and then look at what we did to the band Metallica)Poeple like that fall fast and hard and shame never washes off..."

Now back to my frikkin comment that I sent to my friend. It reads as follows...

World is changing, watch out for FIMA, watch out for your own future.

This is another warning film called "Police State 4 - The Rise of F.I.M.A.". This one among many others has me on the alert for some pretty fast and incomprehensible changes to our way of living and society as a whole.

I give this film next to no merit on its own standing because of the topics it sets out to deal with. I on the other hand have heard many other speak on a great deal about many of this films topics and conclusions. I am talking about trusted people too from members of our own government to university professors, I am also talking about changes that I myself have seen and am still seeing around us right now. That is the merit that this film does stand on with me.

I know you don't want to watch it. I know you don't want to hear it. I know you want things to magically straighten themselves out and leave you the hell out of it.

That would make you a member of the American Majority and not looking at it at all gives you the excuse "Nothing seen, Nothing heard, How could I know?", but look up the word excuse and see what it really means before you decide to fill your own pocket with a bunch of them.

An excuse is in some ways a plea for release from an obligation or duty, also to overlook something and allow it to proceed. In my eye an excuse is a weak mans reasoning to allow an issue to go forward with the hopes that in the end no matter what results, no matter who it costs he can ask to take a part on the winning side. Excuses killed 5,000,000 Jews and over 20,000,000 Native Americans, allowed the rape and murder in public of young woman during the puritan era and allowed the poisoning and torture of many men in our own times by our medical association and our own government. See The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment 1932 to 1972. Look into forced lobotomy and electro-shock treatments. Look at our future too...

Now is the film, full size view is better (click button on bottom right of player), download even better. Look into my archives for page on saving video's. Watch it or not I really don't care but I will read and I will watch and I will look hard at my options.

Why does perfume make me sick as hell... One answer.

Perfume ... or poison?

By Chris Prentice

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Environmental Working Group released the results of a study recently that may have perfume-lovers running from their fragrances. The commissioned study exposed hormone-disrupting chemicals and chemicals that could cause allergic reactions. Many were not on product labels, according to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

"Companies are allowed to put nearly any chemical into fragrances, with no required safety assessments, and they can keep the ingredients secret from consumers," said Stacy Malkan, a spokesperson for the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. (See her 10 natural beauty tips.)

Unlike food and drugs, cosmetics can make it to the counter without pre-approval, according to the FDA. These existing regulations predate public awareness on just how hazardous low-level toxins can be, said Malkin. Researchers found an average of 14 hidden chemicals, in group of popular fragrances that included Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Coco Mademoiselle Chanel, Calvin Klein Eternity, and American Eagle's Seventy-Seven. The report highlights just how many chemicals have been both unstudied and unregulated.

Though commissioned by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics and the Environmental Working Group, the research was conducted by Analytical Sciences, an independent lab in California. The report builds on the worries that consumers are not properly warned of toxins in their everyday products, following the recent release of the President's Cancer Panel.

The products tested each contained an average of 10 "sensitizers" – chemicals that can cause allergic reactions, including asthma, wheezing, headaches, and contact dermatitis. Scientists also found 12 different potential hormone-disrupting chemicals with an average of four in each product. Halle by Halle Berry, Quicksilver, and Jennifer Lopez's J.Lo Glow each had seven different chemicals that could disrupt an individual's hormone system, six of which mimic estrogen and a seventh that affects the thyroid.

"We now have a mountain of scientific evidence showing that low-dose exposures to toxic chemicals can have serious long term health effects," said Malkan. "It's time to update the laws to require companies to disclose what's in their products, phase out the most hazardous chemicals and assess chemicals for safety before putting them into products that get into our bodies.

The health effects of chemicals like these have been tested, but in many cases not conclusively. Lab animals may show worrisome results, for instance, but the effects expected of humans exposed to low levels is not always clear. Many scientists and doctors, however, are concerned enough to warn people – particularly pregnant women – to avoid exposure to known hormone-disrupting chemicals.

There are efforts to require more oversight of the cosmetics industry. "I’m working with colleagues in Congress on legislation that will overhaul our outdated cosmetics oversight and regulation," said Rep. Tammy Baldwin, of Wisconsin, in another press release. "We all deserve to know our products are as safe as possible."

In the meantime, consumers can protect themselves by selecting products with no added fragrance, using less of their favorite products, and by encouraging their representatives to take action, according to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. For a full list of all the fragrances tested, check out the report.

A little bit of reality on the topic of fuel economy.

All of this was taken to share with you from YaHoo Green, a blog run by YaHoo featured in their news often and very useful. The page this was taken from is located [here]

Six gas mileage myths
By Jim Motavalli
More from Driving Directions blog

(Photo: Peter Dazeley)

Do Americans care about fuel economy as oil spills into the Gulf of Mexico and gasoline hovers around $3 a gallon? You bet they do, though they also have a fair number of misconceptions about how to squeeze a few more miles out of every drop.

The Consumer Federation of America's (CFA) most recent survey says that if we had a 50-mile-per-gallon car fleet today, we'd save more oil than the entire proven reserves in the entire Gulf of Mexico. And people care about that.

According to Jack Gillis, author of The Car Book and a CFA spokesman, 87 percent of respondents said it is "important that the country reduce its consumption of oil," and 54 percent said it is "very important."

An amazing 65 percent of Americans surveyed support a mandated transition to a 50-mpg fuel economy standard by 2025. That's a tough standard, some 15 mpg better than the ambitious goal set by the Obama Administration (35 mpg by 2016).

"The expectations of American consumers are reasonable and achievable," Gillis said in a conference call." CFA says that Asian carmakers, compared to the U.S. competition, are offering twice as many vehicles with 30 mpg or better. "It's shocking that so few of today's cars get more than 30 mpg," he said.

Mark Cooper, CFA's research director, noted that in five years of the group's polling, the public's views have stayed remarkably consistent: Americans want less dependence on Middle Eastern oil and higher fuel-economy standards.

People care about fuel economy, but they're misinformed about how to actually achieve it. The federal government's fueleconomy.gov site (very useful to check cars' mpg) just published the "Top 10 Misconceptions About Fuel Economy."

Here are a few big myths:

  • It takes more fuel to start a vehicle than it does to let it idle.
People are really confused about this one and will leave a car idling for half an hour rather than turn it off and restart. Some kids I know started an anti-idling campaign in the suburbs and are shaming parents into shutting down their cars.

Idling uses a quarter- to a half-gallon of fuel in an hour (costing you one to two cents a minute). Unless you're stalled in traffic, turn off the car when stopped for more a few minutes.

  • Vehicles need to be warmed up before they're driven.
Pshaw. That is a long-outdated notion. Today's cars are fine being driven off seconds after they're started.

  • As a vehicle ages, its fuel economy decreases significantly.
Not true. As long as it's maintained, a 10- or 15-year-old car should have like-new mileage. The key thing is maintenance -- an out-of-tune car will definitely start to decline mileage-wise.

  • Replacing your air filter helps your car run efficiently.
Another outdated claim, going back to the pre-1976 carburetor days. Modern fuel-injection engines don't get economy benefits from a clean air filter.

  • After-market additives and devices can dramatically improve your fuel economy.
As readers of my story on The Blade recall, there's not much evidence that these "miracle products" do much more than drain your wallet. Both the Federal Trade Commission and Consumer Reports have weighed in on this. There are no top-secret 100-mpg add-ons out there.

  • Using premium fuel improves fuel economy.
You might as well write a check to BP if you believe this. Only use premium if your car specifies it.

Here's the complete list of myths.

Silkscreening made easy

This was posted from MakeMagazine on YouTube [here].

It's a pretty handy little talent to have to make a few extra bucks with or even save quite a bit if you happen to have your own business and would like tee-shirts, baseball caps or anything needed to get your name out there to the public.

I think I posted on Floyd somewhere back there in the past and he's the one that taught me how to do it myself. It was a pretty good setup. We'd make the screen, print them outside on the picnic table and hang them out on the clothesline to dry and collect the pay for them the next morning. Most of what we printed was banners for up coming events, little things for store openings and last minute things for the library or boat yard in Clearwater. I was surprised at how many offers for work we got and how much we had to turn away over lack of work space and storage for supplies.

A couple notes are you can use a screen over and over. Just clean off the emulsion layer and wash it off very well and use it for project after project and the sunlight will burn a screen well enough without the need for the lighting setup.

Wizards (1977), a Ralph Bakshi film

Wizards was a film done by Ralph Bakshi. I first found the characters in a magazine that I collected called Heavy Metal. It was a bit far fetched and a little off the wall but I thoroughly enjoyed it in the mag, so I wanted badly to see the film.

I never did get to see the film when it came out though but recently found it on the internet.

This is a paragraph taken from Wiki's page on the film and it shows a little bit how "far off the wall" the characters were. "Earth has been devastated by a nuclear war instigated by five terrorists, and it has taken two million years for the radioactive clouds to once again allow sunlight to reach the surface. Only a handful of humans have survived, while the rest have changed into mutants who roam the radioactive wastelands. In the idyllic land of Montagar, the true ancestors of man — fairies, elves and dwarves — have returned and live in peace. During a celebration of 3,000 years of peace Delia, queen of the fairies, falls into a trance and leaves the party. Puzzled, the fairies follow her to her home and discover that she has given birth to twin wizards. Avatar, a kind and good wizard, spends much of his boyhood entertaining his mother with beautiful visions, while Blackwolf, a mutant, never visits his mother, but spends his time torturing small animals."

Below is the film posted in parts and in one piece full.

From 1961 to 1979, Jet and Street Fights

I LOVE the first song in this post. It's The Jet song from the 1961 play West Side Story, apperantly Alice Cooper did too (Listen to the similarities), then David Essex's own version. It's nothing like the others but the guy is great and it fits. I think he started out in the play Godspell. I'm not exactly sure but he did send me some email and we chatted a little bit for a while. He and a few other artists have contacted me through my contact info on here. I'm always glad to hear from them and so far I haven't gotten anything negitive about my posts. We exchange a few emails and I just let it go at that. I'm a carpenter and one thing I hate most of all is shop-talk, given that I don't try to bother any of them with too much shop-talk and just enjoy the few correspondences we had.

Funny story tho... I had a chat friend through a news group who shared some awesome photographs with me. This went on for a couple years or more and then one day he started sending me some batches of Jan Saudek's work (I think I remember right but might have been another photographer), anyway I was chatting with him under some screen name and I replied to his email thanking him for the great sends and asking him if he'd like some more of those from my collection. He laughed and thanked me and said he didn't need them because he was Jan Saudek.

I was in awe but what could I say? I just thanked him for sharing his work with me.
