The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy

A once great but sadly now shit British music publication once described the songs on this album as ‘…the sound of Phil Spector face-f*****g Brian Wilsons sandpit’. A somewhat crude description, but a spot on assertion.

This album will always and forever be the number 1 fuzzed-out rock album for me. If you had never heard this record and were to walk into a room that was playing songs like ‘In a hole’, you would automatically think ‘what the fuck is this racket’, however, ask the partygoers to borrow this record and what you discover will shock you. You will soon realize that under the barrage of noise lies a perfectly formed ‘pop’ album, complete with Beatles-esque melodies and great choruses. Contains many great songs including the classic Just Like Honey, which was expertly used in Lost in Translation.

This album also laid down the groundwork for My Bloody Valentine and all the shoe gaze bands that followed. Today its still as fresh vacuum packed meat.
