I "almost" met Dolly Parton once I think in 1988 at the Emancipation Day Celebration at Roger Williams Park & Zoo. We were walking through the rose garden and Dolly Parton was walking behind me. It was starting to get to me because she deserved her privacy but I really wanted just to look at her for a second. Decisions were made and I did a half turn, dropped to one knee stretched arms out and started whistling Hello Dolly, but only for a few seconds. I quickly got back up and walked on without bothering her but is was a success. I did get to see her smile and she smiled very deeply. It was sweet and is a sweet memory...
