Marijuana in prospective

This is NOT a drug advocacy post! I HATE all drugs. I take no drugs except a blood pressure pill combo and I skipped even that today.

Marijuana is NOT a damn drug. Marijuana was at one time the third greatest harvest crop in the U.S.A.. Marijuana helped our troops win World War I with it's wide range of uses in textile manufacture among many other uses.

I plan a full post on the topic but not here right now.

I quit smoking weed over 20 years ago, long before I quit hard drug use. For me the deciding factor that lead me to quit smoking Marijuana was the real profit margin. The only real winners in the fight against and for use of Marijuana were the asshole judges, punk-assed police pigs and two-faced lawyers.

The "actual" truth is that in a nation consisting of 85% functionally illiterate adults and those ignorant people teaching the next generation, learning from each-other, anything can be accepted, expected or rejected because an idiot always sucks on another idiots tail and change is hard to come by with a nation of morons licking each-others asses...

Cannabis

A dried flower of a Cannabis sativa plant. Note the visible trichomes (commonly referred to incorrectly as 'crystals'), which carry a large portion of the total cannabinoid or psychoactive drug content.

Cannabis, commonly known as marijuana or marihuana,[1] and ganja (from Sanskrit: गांजा gañjā, meaning hemp), among many other names,a[›] refer to any sort of preparation of the plants of the Cannabis genus intended for human ingestion for the purpose of inducing psychoactive effects. The most common form of Cannabis is the natural herbal form.

The typical herbal form of Cannabis used as a drug consists of the flowers and subtending leaves and stalks of mature pistillate or female plants. The resinous form of the drug, known as hashish or merely as hash,[2] as well as hash oil or honey oil, consists primarily of glandular trichomes of Cannabis collected from the same material as that mentioned directly above. Kief is a type of hashish where the trichomes have been dried and crushed into a powder. Sinsemilla is a highly potent type of Cannabis plant that is bred to be non-pollinated and seedless, which essentially results in the dedication of all of the plant's resources into producing psychoactive compounds instead of focusing on reproduction.[3]

The major psychoactive chemical compound in Cannabis is Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (abbreviated as Δ9-THC or merely just THC). At least 66 other cannabinoids are also present in Cannabis, including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN), tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), cannabichromene (CBC), cannabigerol (CBG), cannabicyclol (CBL), cannabivarin (CBV), and cannabidivarin (CBDV), among, of course, many, many others. Along with THC, some of these cannabinoids are pharmacologically active and contribute to the effects of Cannabis. These compounds act by binding to and modulating the cannabinoid receptors CB1, CB2, GPR55 (proposed to be renamed as CB3), and GPR119 (may come to be known as CB4 in the future).

The human consumption of Cannabis via smoking has been found to have occurred as long ago as the 3rd millenium B.C.[4] In modern times, the drug has been used for recreational, religious or spiritual, and medicinal purposes. The United Nations (UN) estimates that about 4% of the world's adult population (162 million people) use Cannabis annually, and about 0.6% (22.5 million) use it on a daily basis.[5] The possession, use, or sale of Cannabis preparations containing psychoactive cannabinoids became illegal in most parts of the world in the early 20th century. Since then, some countries have intensified the enforcement of Cannabis prohibition, while others have reduced it.

Marijuana

Marijuana.

The term marijuana refers to the dried leaves of the Cannabis plants and the flowers of female plants.[6] This is the most widely consumed form of Cannabis. It contains 3% to 22% THC.[7] In contrast, Cannabis strains used to produce industrial hemp contain less than 1% THC. [8]

Hashish

Hashish.

Hashish, or hash, is a concentrated resin produced from the flowers of the female Cannabis plant. Hash is more potent than marijuana, and can be smoked or chewed.[9] It varies in color from black to golden brown depending upon purity.

Hash oil

Hash oil, or honey oil, is an essential oil extracted from the Cannabis plant through the use of various solvents. It has a high proportion of cannabinoids (ranging from 40-90%).[10]

Kief

Kief is made a powder made from trichomes (often incorrectly referred to as "crystals" or "pollen") removed from the leaves and flowers of Cannabis plants. Kief can also be compressed to produce one form of hashish, or consumed in powder form.[11]

Resin

Resin collected from a pipe.

Because of THC's adhesive properties, resin builds up inside the paraphernalia when Cannabis is smoked. It has tar-like properties but still contains THC as well as other cannabinoids. This resin still has all the psychoactive properties of Cannabis but is harsher and less healthy on the lungs. Cannabis users typically only smoke resin as a last resort when they have run out of Cannabis flowers.[12]
