Paint Shop Pro Tips

This was taken from an email sent to me from a Paint Shop Pro user group.
It will help you fix some of the errors you receive after running the program over a long period of time.

Resetting PSP to default.

Resetting PSP to default (deleting PSP's registry) can fix many problems within PSP, errors caused by a corrupt registry missing or greyed out tools and other irregularities.
The big draw back from resetting is the loss of custom settings you have made and having to redo the preferences. To delete and re-write PSP's registry (reset defaults) do the following:
Go to START/PROGRAMS/Jasc Software Inc/ PAINT SHOP PRO 7. Immediately after you click on the PAINT SHOP PRO 7 icon press and hold CTRL+ALT on your keyboard.
Paint Shop Pro will ask you if you would like to delete the registry settings for Paint Shop Pro. Select YES.
When Paint Shop Pro opens it will have all the restored features of initial installation.

Freeing space in the PSP Program Folder.
When you applied the PSP Patch 7.02 , Version 7.02 created a backup of version 7 in a folder called Unpatch ( C:\Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Unpatch folder)
The same would apply if you installed the 7.04 patch, a back up of 7.02 would have been created. If you have ran PSP patched versions with no problem then it is unnecessary to keep this folder on your hard drive.
You can copy it to a cd for safe keeping if you like and delete the Unpatch folder, reclaiming up to 62 mgb of disk space.

Freeing memory

Lower the "undo" storage for files
File/Preferences/General Program Preferences, hit the Undo tab and set the undo storage to 15 MB.
If you are working with large graphics and use the undo frequently you may need to set it to 40mgb.

Browser Caches
PSP creates a browser cache when using the browse function in PSP. This enables faster loading of graphics. However if graphics are moved around, stored elsewhere or deleted the browser cache remains the same size and can get very large taking up valuable space. It is advisable to delete them frequently to allow a build of a fresh cache in your files. To do this go to Find files and type in "jbf" without the quotation marks. You will see all the pspbrwse icons appear. Select them all and press delete on your keyboard. The next time you browse in PSP new caches will be built.

Autosave

When PSP crashes or freezes for some reason and you haven't saved your work, you can lose everything,
Go to File > Preferences > Autosave settings.
This will open the Autosave Settings dialogue box, Tick the 'Enable Autosave' box. Set the time schedule you require, 5 minutes should be sufficient. Click OK. Autosave is now enabled and your work will automatically be saved to the temp file every 5 minutes. If PSP crashes you can re-open and your work will be loaded as before.

Save Worktop

When you save your workspace, you will be saving settings for your toolbar, palettes, also settings for your rulers and grids plus image information including image position in your workspace etc., so that you can return to your project at a later time.
Go To >File > Workspace > Save. The standard "Save as" dialogue box will appear. It will ask you for a file location you wish to save your workspace to. Workspace will be saved in a .wsp format, so you need to give it a name eg: project2.wsp.
Next time you open PSP go to File > Workspace > Load. The workspace will remember the locations of your graphics so it is important that you do not move them after saving the workspace.

Tools greyed out

The majority of tools will only function on a image with a colour depth of 16.7 million colours (24 bit). To restore your image to 24 bit, Go to Colours > Increase Colour Depth > 16 Million. Now all of your tools should be active except the tools that require a selection.

Using Fonts in PSP

Having too many fonts installed on your system can cause PSP to load slower, as it has to load all the fonts. PSP can use any font that is not installed. Open the font file you wish to use, by double clicking on the font icon, and minimize it on your desktop. That font will now show up in the font list in the 'Text' dialogue box.

Screen Shots

If you want to make a screen shot of your work or tools in PSP, or anywhere else on your computer. Press the Print Screen key on your keyboard, right click on your PSP workspace and "Paste as new image" you can then crop your screen shot down to size and use.

Previous File Formats

PSP, by default will want to save all your new images as .psp files, which can be annoying when working mostly with jpg's To avoid this, open the General Program Preferences, hit the Dialogues and Palettes Tab, check the box "Remember last type used in file save-as dialogue".

Floating tool bars/palettes
While working on a project particularly when lasooing an image, the tool palettes tend to get in the way. Just press the tab key on your keyboard to make them disappear and press the tab key once more to make them reappear.

Crop Tool

Make your selection on the graphic, and double click outside your selected area still on the graphic and your picture will crop automatically
Always use the crop tool and not the selection tool to "cut" an image for a clean outline. The selection too tends to leave and edge of white pixels (unless using for a seamless selection)

Sharpen Option

When making a graphic smaller, got to effects > sharpen once, this will bring back the clarity of the pixels that are lost when shrinking the graphic.

Applying Shadow
While the image that you are applying shadow to is surrounded by the selection go to Selections > Modify > Contract and contract by 1 pixel this will prevent a ragged white appearance around the graphic after shadow has been applied.

PSP Colour Palette

For those of you who like to have a range of colours and the hexadecimal value for stationery etc. Got to File > Program Preferences > Make sure the hexadecimal preference box is ticked and untick " use standard Windows colour picker". This will give you a slider bar choices on hues/sat/light and red/blue/green along with other useful information in the colour dialogue box. Which will enable you a far greater range in colours.

Colour Option Effect

This is a very little used option in PSP that enhances the colours of graphics. Effects > Enhance Photo > Automatic Colour Balance.
A nice little tool that allows you to make the colours look warmer or cooler. I find it invaluable.
Likewise the option of Effects > Enhance Photo > Clarify enhances and clarifies the colours.
The effects that are under the tools of "Enhance Photo" are very useful effects and are not restricted to Photo's.
Try them out on your graphics.

Possibly the best concert ever performed in America!

Eric Clapton,Jeff Beck,Jimmy Page,Ron Wood,Bill Wyman,Jan Hammer,Charlie Watts @ M.S.G.

Amazing New York City
Published on Mar 29, 2012

The following message is copied from the authors info on this film on his Youtube page:
Watch this on Full Screen because it's in HD . I paid 40 dollars for my ticket to Friday's show and Eric Clapton was solid,Jeff Beck stole the show and Jimmy Page got the biggest applause on that day. Just like in this video from Thursday's show. The difference between the 2 shows is that Ronnie didn't perform with Eric but he did climb down from his seat located just behind the stage to the right and joined the band for the encores.
A.R.M.S. Concert http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARMS_con...
The idea for hosting the concert was envisaged by Ronnie Lane, ex-bassist for The Small Faces and The Faces, himself a casualty of multiple sclerosis. The concert was billed as The Ronnie Lane Appeal for ARMS and featured a star-studded line-up of British musicians, including Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Andy Fairweather-Low, Bill Wyman, Kenney Jones and Charlie Watts. The concert was particularly notable in the fact that it was the first occasion on which Clapton, Beck and Page, each a former lead guitarist for The Yardbirds, had performed together on stage.

The ARMS charity concert proved so popular with both the audience and the musicians that the decision was taken to perform a further nine concerts in the USA. The US dates included Joe Cocker, who notably sang lead vocals on "With a Little Help from My Friends", and Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page each shared lead guitar duties on the "Stairway to Heaven" instrumental. While Ronnie Lane appeared in New York, he did not appear at all of the US dates. They played in San Francisco at the Cow Palace on December 2, 1983 for three sold out shows. Also, Steve Winwood was unable to do the American shows and Paul Rodgers was now playing in Page's set. (They later formed The Firm together.)

Further Notes:
To Download this I recommend you get a copy of Firefox Portable from [HERE]. You can install it on a flash drive like I do, but to use it from the flash drive it runs too slow.
To fix that copy it (folders and all) to someplace on your hard drive to run it from there.
If you are using Firefox right now, you can't use both at the same time, so copy down the url from this page and paste it into Notepad for a while.
Now close down Firefox completely and go open up the portable version.
Before you do anything else click on Tools and on the side Add-ons, when that opens hit Extensions, then type in on the search field "Ant.com", and select Ant Video Downloader v.2.4.7.26. Then it will prompt you to restart Firefox Portable.
Now paste your url in from Notebook leading back to this page and load it.
Now look up top for your Ant button and hit the down facing arrow. Click on this vid and that's it.
It'll download it for you for watching offline or converting into mp3.
If you liked this and you liked the way it worked DO NOT update Firefox Portable, DO NOT update Ant Downloader. The Reason that this works is because it's an older version of Firefox.
Google will STOP you from downloading if you update!
If you add Ant Downloader to your current version it will not work!

Trying to post a new animated gif, hope it works

Here goes nothin...

Looks like it worked, now to save a copy to your drive you need to right click on it and select "save as" or "save target as" and try to remember where you saved it.
A good rule of thumb would be to save it to your desktop and drag it off later into a folder. Especially if you're operating any version of Windows 8 saved files or images can be a bitch to find later.

That was included in this email I sent. It should explain itself well
enough.

Sent a copy to my asshole lawyer with this message attached (I'm not so sure I knew you then, but I assume I must have)....
Message came at just the right time...
Hi (Name is private).
No I’m not going to say a word about this in court. I just got it from an old friend that I haven't seen since 1985 and never will see again. Somehow she knows what I’ve been going through and I thought you might want to understand it too…
Copy/Paste
If you are related to, married to, or divorced from a narcissist, then you know how difficult it is reason with them.
Narcissists are masters at manipulation. They are often intelligent and charming when you first meet them. In the beginning,
you hold them to such high esteem (of course to which they are fully aware) and they love to bask in your adulation.
But once you catch on to their tactics, and question behavior that is opposite of their once-charming selves, they become deeply threatened. They will then paint themselves as a victim and you as their aggressor, and expertly blame you for the relationship's demise, and all other misfortunes in their life. And you, as the codependent, try to reason with her, change her mind, or challenge every verbal assault point-by-point in hopes that she snaps out of her irrational behavior. Maybe this time she will understand, you think. If I explain it to her this way, she will get it. She can't be THAT close-minded, I'm going to tell her once more.
But the more you explain, the colder and more manipulative she becomes. She may talk to you like a child, as if you're stupid. And you can't even believe how a person can lack such empathy, so you explain more, trying harder and harder to make her "get it" -- and the more you do that, the more it supplies her narcissistic fantasies that she is better and smarter than anyone.
The constant attempts to explain or get some kind of emotional response with no return is what I call the Narcissistic Vortex -- it's a deep, black hole that sucks you in, with no way out. And until you understand this, you are going to think you're crazy, unloved, or worse, that you aren't worthy of anyone else's love so you end up staying with this person or being alone forever.
If you are not married and trying to end a relationship with a Narcissist, then the expert advice is to have no contact with her. You end the relationship cold-turkey, as if giving up a very bad addiction. But what if you are divorcing a narcissist, or you must endure a co-parenting relationship long term -- how do you manage the constant manipulation even as you try to get on with your life?
She might blame you for the smallest mistakes (thereby raising her own false self-worth), or she criticizes you for everything you do with the kids. And because she is SO falsely mistaken, you write her a long email, explaining your actions, or you become ensued in a long texting battle. And thus, you enter the Narcissistic Vortex.
You must remember, this vortex is a trap. By replying to her (no matter how negative), it feeds her narcissistic supply -- a.k.a, her false sense of self that she is better than you (or anyone else for that matter).
So if the manipulation happens via email, for example, you must first ask yourself: does it require a reply? Are there any crucial issues that really require your response, like financial matters during divorce or logistics with the children?
Unfortunately with Narcissists, they can never write an email without making themselves look a victim/martyr, or passive aggressively knocking your ability to function as an adult.
The true secret to engaging with a narcissist is little to no response. Reply with "yes" or "no" answers, or merely factual replies like, "yes, I am picking kids up at 5:00 p.m. today." Ignore all other stabs or attempts of getting a heated reaction from you. If your narcissist wants to talk with you over the phone about certain matters, let her ask you questions for which a yes or no answer is required. If the conversation results in accusations or manipulation, quite simply say to her, "If you have anything to discuss with me, please put it in email." And then hang up.
You will never change her mind. You will never get her to see your side of things. As long as you attempt to do so, you will forever be stuck in her vortex and unable to move on.
Learning how to deal with a narcissist can't be accomplished by reading just this one blog. It takes skill, practice, reading books on the subject and perhaps coaching or therapy. Whatever you do, don't try to learn this alone.

NOTE: I aint good at formattin and it's all fukked-up. I did my best to fix it and I can't do no more.

How to find videos, free and easy

Old friend of mine asked me how to find videos.
I told her I use search methods. Here are some of the easiest ones to use and with them you can find just about anything out there.
First one is ant.com, it's two things. It's a vid search that can search all the major sites and (I'm not sure if it works with Internet Explorer or Chrome, find out yourself), but if you use Firefox you can download the videos for free from most sites with their downloader [Here].
Another good one is Bing.com [Here].
Google works, but it's really mostly a Youtube search, [here's the link], I had to type in something just to get the search option. I typed "movies", type anything you like in in the search options.

Id you like software try ashampoos Clipfinder 2, might still be free, might be ten bucks. I don't know because I own it and can't get to the buy option.

More than that there's Irfanview that lets you watch streaming and record as you watch almost anything, but it'll take some reading to figure it out. I'm not sure if he remembers me, but Irfan Skiljan that built this was a friend of mine ten years ago and this is by far the best anything viewer you can ever get and it's free.

Beyond that beware. There are many search programs out there. Most I have found out put hijackers on your browser and mess with all your searches.

This post is for Charlotte, but also for anyone interested.

Stupid picture posted below only to show something more than a link....

Newer understanding, Reality and Perception...

I'm not as convinced as some, but the journey there is half the trip.

This is a whole damn movie on the subject. It will take me three days to watch it myself, but eventually I will...

In school they said compressed fully our bodies could each fit on the head of a pin.
That means we are built of mostly empty space, but is it empty or what could it be filled with.
The answer is energy. We are less than 01% mass, over 99% energy and that's something to think about.

Blessings and peace, enjoy the ride you're on :)

Comments on a Militia Presence post follow...

Here's the post, my comments inserted in italics.

Ongoing Militia Presence Raises Fears Among Locals Near Bundy Ranch

By David Neiwert on April 30, 2014 - 11:15 am, Posted in AntigovernmentMilitias

Cliven Bundy with militia supporters

People (Which "people"?) in rural southeastern Nevada and the surrounding area are not accustomed to being the center of national media attention (would they prefer to have their land and property taken from them by the BLM and a media black-out so that nobody hears about it?), as they have increasingly been since their neighbor, rancher Cliven Bundy, began his notorious standoff with federal authorities. But what bothers them now is the threatening presence of armed militiamen who have taken up semi-permanent residency at Bundy’s ranch.

Some (name a few please?) local residents, in fact, are complaining that the militiamen are setting up armed checkpoints and detaining people as they travel to their homes, asking for proof that they live nearby before allowing them to proceed. However, the militiamen themselves deny this, and investigating news crews have not found any evidence of it.

What these locals can say with certainty, though, is that the circus surrounding the standoff and the militias’ refusal to leave is not only disrupting their normally quiet lives, it is costing them money.

Congressman Steve Horsford of Las Vegas ( Isn't he just a paid public speaker anyway, of course he's going to be outspoken and criticizing, it's what he gets paid to do.), has been outspoken in criticizing the militiamen, charging that local residents have been confronted by militiamen who have set up armed checkpoints and demanded that they prove they live in the area before being allowed to pass. Horsford also says the militias have created a “persistent presence” along federal highways and state and county roads.

Horsford has demanded that Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie crack down on the outsiders, saying they make local residents feel unsafe.

“I am greatly concerned about the safety and well-being of my constituents after meeting with local community members this past week. I urge Sheriff Gillespie to investigate these reports, as this sort of intimidation cannot be tolerated,” Horsford said.

“We must respect individual constitutional liberties, but residents of and visitors to Clark County should not be expected to live under the persistent watch of an armed militia,” Horsford wrote in a letter to Gillespie. “Residents have expressed their desire to see these groups leave their community. I urge you to investigate these reports and to work with local leaders to ensure that their concerns are addressed in a manner that allows the community [to] move forward without incident.”

They aren’t the only residents who feel threatened. According to a report from KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, the militiamen have also threatened people who live in the nearby town of Mesquite, and businesses there claim they have lost over $100,000 (Looks like free advertising to me, but prove it anyway) because of their presence.

The station reported that a local hotel was forced to evacuate all of its clients one evening following a bomb threat. The hotel also received at least nine threatening calls after it permitted Bureau of Land Management rangers to stay there. The callers demanded the BLM rangers be kicked out or the hotel “would not be standing in the morning. (aww, c'mon. Bomb threats are serious and they result in arrests after one call, they don't wait for call number 3 or ever allow nine!)

One hotel worker told the news crew he had been told by an anonymous militia member that he would be “dragged out in the parking lot and shot”.

News crews were unable to find any (Couldn't find any of those  instances of persistent presence” or "persistent watch" is what I think they're trying to say...) armed checkpoints when they went out searching for them. A militia group spokesman named Ryan Payne denied to KVVU-TV that they were conducting such checks.

“We are not to set up checkpoints, we are not to pull over civilians, without, you know, reasonable cause,” Payne said. Of course, militiamen have no legal right to pull anyone over – with or without reasonable cause.

But local residents remain far from assured. “We are not a playground for armed militias,” Horsford said. ("Nah, I understand, you're just a wap land grab deal for the BLM, huh?") “This unfortunate incident and the outside groups that have come for their own agenda are putting a black eye on this community.”

The story of Kings and a King…

Beginning with King Saul, who was anointed as King through the Lords Prophet Samuel.
King Saul refused to follow the instructions of The Lord, because of that The Lord lost favor in him and Samuel went out seeking another king.
He was advised to seek Jesse and to seek from him a son.
Jesse met him and invited him to dine with him that night and his sons. Samuel asked of all of Jesse’s sons would be there, but there were only six and Jesse had seven.
Samuel asked Jesse id he had any more sons. Jesse said he had a youngest son named David who watched the flocks by night.
Samuel went to the flocks in the fields and found David attending there.
After some discussion Samuel gave the blessing of The Lord to David, that he would soon be King.
Saul’s son called for David without knowledge of the blessing and brought David home to King Saul’s side.
Over the period of the  next ten years or so David became a great Warrior and jealousy brewed in Saul’s heart. Some say eventually driving him mad.
Through many complicated phases Saul sought to have David killed.
Eventually Saul and his sons died in one battle and the David was anointed as the Great King of Judah.
The story doesn’t end there. King David later saw Bathsheba  bathing (some say on a rooftop, Second Samuel 11-2 says David saw her from his rooftop. Some stories claim it was through a window). Every version told confirms David committed adultery with her and that this angered Our Lord.
For years David prayed in repentance  and suffered a great deal over that sin.
David eventually had Bathsheba’s husband (Uriah the Hettite) placed in position during a battle where he was sure to be killed. That left Bathsheba to become free to become his wife.
After that One od David's sons Amnon  raped his daughter Tamar. His other son Absalom, Amnon's half-brother and Tamar's full-brother, waits two years, then avenges his sister by sending his servants to kill Amnon at a feast to which he had invited all the king's sons.
The years now became difficult for David. Absalom took over David’s kingdom and David ended up in exile for a number of years until eventually he returned after Absalom's death.
All of this led up to the greatest King of all, the wisest man that ever lived and that would be the son of King David & Bathsheba,  King Solomon.

Dandelions, wine, tea, greens for salads and other benefits...

Dandelions

Thinking about the health benefits of dandelion for liver detoxification, weight loss, Cancer, Diabetes and kidneys.

Considering it's pretty much available for free almost everywhere and it's not illegal "yet" to use for self medicating or general health improvement, it might be worth looking into.

Easy Dandelion Wine

There are methods of brewing this wine that give you a decent tasting wine within about a month to six weeks, but I'd have to locate one of my old friends from Maryland and after twenty years away that's proven to be rather hard.
If you have that version then please email it to me at FunkingDave@gmail.com

Tea, flowers version.
Dandelion Greens.

Dandelion Coffee.

More on the health benefits of Dandelions

http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/vegetables-and-vegetable-products/2441/2

Dandelion is most often thought of as a pesky weed that takes over in lawns, gardens, meadows, and even pops up in cracked sidewalks and pavement. It is invasive and pervasive. Lucky for us, it is also an excellent food and herbal medicine that anyone can find, grow, and put to use.

(Can't get that paragraph to format properly)

Dandelion is a very rich source of beta-carotene which we convert into vitamin A. This flowering plant is also rich in vitamin C, fiber, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus. It is a good place to get B complex vitamins, trace minerals, organic sodium, and even vitamin D. Dandelion contains protein too, more than spinach. It has been eaten for thousands of years and used to treat anemia, scurvy, skin problems, blood disorders, and depression.

Seeds grow readily in your garden, planter boxes, or pots. If you collect them wild, try to choose ones you know have not been subjected to pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals. The ones in your lawn are not the best. Pick them instead from a mountain meadow or abandoned lot. Seeds can be bought or you can gather them from the familiar puff balls you see each summer. Dandelion leaves can also be found fresh in some health food markets or as a freeze-dried herb. Dandelion tea, capsules, and tinctures are also available.

Digestive Aid – Dandelion acts as a mild laxative that promotes digestion, stimulates appetite, and balances the natural and beneficial bacteria in the intestines.

Kidney – This weed-like superfood is a diuretic that helps the kidneys clear out waste, salt, and excess water. This inhibits microbial growth in the urinary system too.

Liver – Dandelion has been shown to improve liver function by removing toxins and reestablishing hydration and electrolyte balance.

Antioxidants – Every part of the dandelion plant is rich in antioxidants that prevent free-radical damage to cells and DNA, slowing down the aging process in our cells.

Cancer – Dandelion acts against cancer to slow its growth and prevent its spread. The leaves are especially rich in the antioxidants and phytonutrients that combat cancer.

Diabetes – Recent animal studies show promise that dandelion helps regulate blood sugar and insulin levels. High Blood Pressure – As a diuretic dandelion increases urination which then lowers blood pressure. The fiber and potassium in dandelion also regulate blood pressure.

Cholesterol – Animal studies have shown that dandelion lowers and control cholesterol levels. Gallbladder – Dandelion increases bile production and reduces inflammation to help with gallbladder problems and blockages.

Inflammation – Dandelion contains essential fatty acids and phytonutrients that reduce inflammation throughout the body. This can relieve pain and swelling.

Immune System – Animal studies also show that dandelion boosts immune function and fights off microbes and fungi.

Dandelion leaves, flowers, and roots are all edible. They have a slightly bitter flavor that can be minimized by harvesting them in the fall or spring. Cooking cuts the bitter flavor as well though the leaves make a great addition to raw salads.

Dandelion is generally considered safe in food and medicinal levels. Some people may have allergic reactions to dandelion. Anyone with an allergy to ragweed, chrysanthemum, marigold, chamomile, yarrow, or daisy should avoid dandelion and anyone pregnant, nursing, or taking prescription drugs should talk to a healthcare professional before adding something new to their diet.

Here we are entering into what is becoming a Police State and NYPD asked us to twitter on it to give en a better image. Hilarity follows...

Ordinarily I would have just copied this whole long-long list of posts and put them on a htlm page and archived them with my many others, but after some consideration I decided I should do both. I should post it here for you to access and then save the post offline to follow the links when I have time for future reading.
This isn't a cop bashing post. I don't even need to do that because they do that well enough themself.

I just wanted to let you see what kind of policing you can expect in every County, City, town in every State, because that's just about what a police state looks like, isn't it?

We don't think the New York Police Department intended the social media campaign to go this way, but it quickly did.
Now Twitter is full of images alleging police brutality, when the NYPD intended with the campaign to show a more community-minded department. ‪#‎MyNYPD‬
The premise was simple: the New York Police Department wanted the public to submit a picture of New York City citizens with any of its officers.

OWS STRIKES AGAIN, AGAINST THE NYC COPS......70'OOO PROTESTORS WITH PICTURES
...................................
When the New York police department invited people to tweet pictures of their dealings with "New York's finest" with the hashtag ‪#‎myNYPD‬, what could possibly go wrong?
The attempt at public outreach, however, backfired spectacularly when users flooded Twitter with hundreds of photos of police brutality during Occupy Wall Street, one of an 84-year-old man brutalised for jaywalking – and even a dog being frisked.
By midnight on Tuesday, more than 70,000 people had tweeted about police brutality, ridiculing the NYPD for a social media disaster and recalling the names of people shot dead by police.
Police officials declined to respond to questions about the comments, which were being posted at a rate of 10,000 an hour, or say who was behind the Twitter idea. But they did release a short statement.
"The NYPD is creating new ways to communicate effectively with the community," Kim Royster, an NYPD spokeswoman told the New York Daily News. "Twitter provides an open forum for an uncensored exchange and this is an open dialogue good for our city."
The request for pictures, on the @NYPDNews Twitter page, had said: "Do you have a photo w/ a member of the NYPD? Tweet us & tag it #myNYPD," the message read. "It may be featured on our Facebook."
It prompted a flood pictures of officers mistreating people and old newspaper headlines about unarmed people being shot dead by police. It also sparked similar hashtag trends – including ‪#‎myLAPD‬ – and attracted international attention.
Not all the posts were negative. JP Quinn, 40, tweeted a picture from inside the old Yankee Stadium with his brother Michael, 38, who is a detective in Brooklyn South. "I like when they make public efforts like this. It's a shame that it blew up like this," Quinn told the Daily News. "I just assumed it would be all roses, like whoever came up with that for the NYPD."
The NYPD tried to make the best of a botched job by retweeting all the favourable photos.
Last year, Wall Street giant JP Morgan was at the centre of a social media storm when it invited Twitter users to send questions to an executive using the hashtag ‪#‎AskJPM‬. The bank was deluged with vitriol. More than 8,000 responses were sent within a six-hour period, two-thirds of which were negative.

Did you hear about this? Twitter gone wrong for the NYPD.
Twitter users hijacked an NYPD social media campaign on Tuesday, flooding the ‪#‎MyNYPD‬ hashtag with 10,000 negative responses - many of them photos of violent arrests.
The idea was to get people to share photos of themselves with city cops, but instead, the Twittersphere posted complaints from excessive force to the controversial 'stop and frisk' practices.
